The armor is also known as "Shida Gusoku" (fern leaf armor) because the helmet's crest (maetate) is shaped like a fern frond. Ieyasu wore and carried this special armor in the decisive Battle of Sekigahara and the Siege of Osaka, which resulted in the fall of the Toyotomi clan. Because he achieved victory in both, the armor has been carefully preserved by the Tokugawa family as a "lucky armor set." The design is characterized by a fern leaf, which symbolizes the prosperity of the family, with a "shishigami" (lion bite) talisman to ward off evil spirits placed within it. The actual armor is housed at the Kunozan Toshogu Shrine and is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. Yuzan Suzukine Winner of the Prime Minister's Special Award at the National New Doll Festival Competition. Certified as a Traditional Craftsman by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. Serves as the general producer for the creative doll studio Ichi-San. Designs the head prototypes for the doll craftsman unit Nui. For over 100 years, the name "Yuzan" has been passed down through generations, with its origins tracing back to the Meiji era when the first "Yuzan," Koi-hachi Suzuki, operated a military gear business before transitioning to crafting May Festival armor and helmets. The workshop is highly regarded for its meticulous craftsmanship. Its skill in faithfully reproducing armors, including those designated as national treasures and important cultural properties, is exceptionally high. Each piece is a harmonious blend of profound historical accuracy and delicate artistry. For instance, the visor and brow guard of the Tenpu no Kabuto helmet feature the Kikumagaki pattern, which was popular during the Kamakura period, showcasing the extensive knowledge and skill poured into every single helmet.
